Our poetry
(2016 / google keywords, hand-made books, 66 poems)
There is a conflict between existence and digital life, I’m interested in the absurdities that arises from it. Our bodies exist in a digital age that is constantly accelerating, could this become a certificate of our existence in reality?
By the way of “mislead” and “misuse”, I try to take back bodily perceptions that have been lost to digitalization. I reconstruct broken connections of a contemporary search engine, responding to the absurdities of technology with self deprecating humor.
Extending from my work “Map poetry series”, I use my body as means to converse with data, “Our poetry” , a collection of poems by the public, is the framework for this piece.
“Our poetry” utilizes suggested search items that automatically appear in google search as foundation for poetry, these are based on big data that google has acquired from people’s search habits. Out of misunderstanding there is space for poetry, I’ve organized that space to create this collection of poetry.
The poem’s titles are search keywords, when viewing the poems the audience sees interesting connections, they also see what we’re curious about. What do we think about love? What should we do upon a breakup? We get answers from searching, obtain knowledge from searching. In “Our poetry” the lines are completed through a process of exquisite corpse, hinting at the certificate of our existence, co writing our collective daily lives.
